Paris Fashion Week - Louis Vuitton SS 2012

Today at 10AM, Paris time, Louis Vuitton, with Creative Director Marc Jacobs, presented the most spectacular show (in our opinion) during Paris Fashion Week. As the curtain rose, the audience was presented with a huge white carousel; models dressed in delicate pastels and whites side-saddling the pristine white horses. The carousel spun around a few times before the first angelic model dismounted and walked the circular runway.

Of course, there were a few familiar faces including Jordan Smalls, Anya Rubik and Jessica Stam. Kate Moss was the final model to walk the runway and gave a sweet spin showing off her white structured minidress.

From the structured, cutout dresses to the translucent monogrammed bags and steel-toed heels...we want it ALL!

When you meet a great man, you tend to remember everything else that happened in your life that day. I met Roger Webster over a brunch arranged by Jake Bright on the Upper East Side about two years ago. He was 64; I was almost 32. The table had six yellow tulips in a white vase in the middle. It struck me as odd because tulips don’t bloom in the winter. Over on Third Avenue in a grill-fire pizza and wine spot, Jake, Mia Morgan, Roger and I mulled over the important planning of Zelda Kaplan’s 90-something birthday.

I was struck by Roger’s class and presence from the first moment. Our discussion from minute one flowed so seamlessly and naturally; he was an immediate godfather of sorts to me. I feverishly took mental notes; Roger spoke with true conviction and illuminated a deep passion Manhattan life. Adorned in a Thomas pink cuffed shirt and cufflinks which were most likely from Scully & Scully, Roger smiled his big white perfect smile that first day we met, while intently locking eyes when I made a point. He was one of those rare people who seemed to get me from the start.

The restaurant Jake picked for our meeting with Roger Webster wasn’t a fancy place, but it was perfect for the company in which we kept. After saying our first farewell to Roger, Mia and I would go on to the W Hotel that day were we would drink Manhattan’s and finalize party plans; then on to a jazz performance at The Blue Note downtown, which Susan Shin invited us to attend; and a final stop at the opening of the elite private club Norwood, where we would also meet Sean Westley for the first time - and a boy named Nick. I would drink Veuve Cliquot champagne and see Randy Udell and Casey Stern in passing; sitting there in front of a winter fireplace amidst champagne glasses and red velvet couches from ABC Carpet & Home. Mia in her white dress from Zac Posen, I in my black, angular mini-dress from Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, not knowing that day would be forever engrained as The Day We Met Roger Webster.

Roger was very taken by Zelda and loved her dearly. Roger was also a bit taken by me; not that I deserved it, but he was. He made me feel a social responsibility to carry myself well; to earn respect and to be successful. He always wrote about me when I attended his events; not because I was a celebrity, but because Roger wanted me to be noticed. He once made a photo of me the lead story on Hamptons.com; this at an event where Lydia Hearst and Gillian Miniter and Emma Snowdon-Jones were also present. He chose to lead with me.

At that time, I thought Upper East Side Manhattan was old and stuffy, but Roger and Jason Grant (whom were rarely seen apart), taught me something different. One warm Spring evening, they took me to Swifty’s for dinner, where we met Douglas Hannant, Robert Caravaggi and Stephen Attoe, and even a former Prima Ballerina from Swan Lake, I think. At that time, I was already teetering on the edge of being “accepted” at Swifty’s; after all, I had hosted the Fete de Swifty itself for Mayor Michael Bloomberg and I started to become a regular at Le Cirque and Entre Nous. Still, that stretch of land in the upper 60s and 70s all seemed so preposterous to me, an immigrant from Long Island by way of the downtown Manhattan fashion scene. Roger and Jason taught me that New York is actually a familiar and loving place; it is for insiders sometimes, but often you just have to let it all in, to be an insider.

The earth is a bit calmer today, and the sky a bit cold. Maybe it is because I haven’t looked at the sky much these days. Maybe it’s because I am sad. Maybe it’s because we lost Roger Webster. I’d like to say that the world lost a great man; but in essence, most of the world doesn’t know him anyway. But the world that matters to me now, thanks to Roger, that world cares that he is gone. The same crowd that dines at Michael’s and Swifty’s; the crowd that reads New York Social Diary (which I have grown to write for and for which I completely need to read daily); the crowd I once deemed shallow, stuffy and moth-ball scented; those wonderful characters miss him today. The people who spent time with the real Elaine at Elaine’s before a nightcap at The Carlyle; they are the ones who know Roger. The guys like John Sterling and Jack Welsh and Mario Maccioni, all of whom talk about the Yankees over mini croque-moiseurs at Le Cirque on Monday evenings; they know about Roger.

Last month I gave birth to two wonderful people at Lenox Hill hospital. I received a message from my good friend Jason that day, congratulating me and telling me that he and Roger had a little gift for my twins, but that Roger was in Lenox Hill Hospital. I don’t know why it struck me so hard, but the thought of Roger, a gallant man who seemed to take care of us all with great conviction, in that very hospital just didn’t fit. Roger wasn’t fulfilled; there was a hunger in him that drove him to the masses of Manhattan each day.

Roger made me love New York City. Maybe it’s because Roger always seemed to be

a man of no past and no present; his home and virtual life was the landscape of this metropolis. And in essence, we all come to New York to start over; no memory.

I am sorry he died in a place where I gave birth just a few weeks ago. I am sorry my infant son will never meet him and be able to look up to him. To try on his cufflinks, maybe.

Perhaps the sky looks different because I have forgotten recently to look up. I’ve been a bit overwhelmed by the size of the heavens; the mass of life opening toward us, beckoning for change. It’s too much for a perfectionist like me to face. But Roger told me once that it is okay not to be perfect; that what matters most in work and life is to continue to be intrigued, even if not fulfilled. My twins will know a different side of Manhattan and they will love it, because of Roger. So he got to give them his gift, after all.

I will always remember you Roger; and the tulips at our table the day we met, juxtaposed in the backdrop of my memory next to the tulips you bloom on Park Avenue when the sun comes around each April. I can’t wait to visit you there next Spring.

Jason Wu next in line to collaborate with Target

Target has for a long time been very forward when it comes to collaborating with other brands, and the list of previous collaborations includes celebrity favorite designers like Rodarte and Zac Posen, as well as well-known brands like Mulberry and Calypso St. Barths. The latest collaboration was however with Missoni, with products ranging from clothing to home decor to travel accessories, and sold out within hours.

Today Target announced their new collaboration: designer Jason Wu. Wu first launched his ready-to-wear collection in 2006 and has since then had a great career and a fast rise to fame. Admirers include First Lady Michelle Obama, who also chose a gorgeous white dress for the Inaugural Ball back in 2009.

Several of the previous collaborations have caused an extreme hype and have been sold out in hours, also causing the Target website to crash. Even though the expectations aren't as high for this new line, mostly due to the fact that Jason Wu isn't as well-known as for example Mulberry or Missoni, KING is very much looking forward to see what this designer will come up with.

Sleep No More

“Sleep No More” is an interactive play that takes Shakespeare’s famous Macbeth and sets it in the 1940s with a Hitchcock feel (think, "The Shining").

The play takes place at the “McKittrick Hotel”, a maze of rooms that is made up of two warehouses located on 530 W. 27^th street in Chelsea. Although not one word of Macbeth is spoken by the actors, it can be found of various props throughout the “Hotel”

The object of the play is not to just be an observer but to walk around and explore whatever and wherever you’d like. The show has only two rules for the audience: Never take off your mask and don’t talk to anybody.

Last night, we found out just how true that was.

After arriving and being grabbing a drink at the "Manderley" Lounge, we were given a white mask (very "Eyes Wide Shut" if you ask me) and were escorted into an elevator. The elevator attendant allowed some people off on each floor - and then, you were on your own. Almost like a "Choose Your Own Adventure", you decide which rooms you want to explore and which characters you want to follow.

We don't want to give away too many of the details as to what we witnessed last night...but let's just say that this is something EVERYONE should see at least once (in fact, some of us are thinking about going back to see all of the details we missed the first time!)

The show, which started in April, has been extended until November due to increase in demand - so get your tickets while you still can.

THE 2011 EMMY'S RECAP

Everyone has been talking about fashion for the last two weeks, from the garments on the runway during New York Fashion Week and the looks on the red carpet at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards. Fashion week just recently came to an end on September 15. According to fashion director of InStyle Magazine, Hal Rubenstein, "The Spring and Fall collections were all about loose shapes and subtle, restrained sensuality." Well some of Hollywood's most beloved stars didn't waste any time bringing those upcoming trends to the red carpet.

The Emmy's aired on FOX Television, on Sunday, September 18, live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California. Many stars played it safe with black and red gowns. This included Evan Rachels in a black, sparkly Ellie Saab's gown, and Gretchen Mol in a classic sweetheart L'Wren Scott silk gown, with a matching black clutch. Others interpreted the classic red dress as their own, such as Nina Dobrev wearing a stunning Donna Karan gown. Kerry Washington was also one of the many ladies in red looking great in a red beaded strapless Zuhair Murad dress that was transparent at the bottom.

Some of the trends we found on the red carpet included belted dresses, lots of glitz and glam, and plenty of light pink tulle. Accessory trends included dropped earrings and stacked bracelets. Lets not forget about the risk takers. Claire Danes and Rachael Taylor was seen in multi-colored strapless sequin columns by Oscar de la Renta and Armani Prive. Melissa McCarthy was definitely an innovator and a winner this awards show, taking home the award for Best Comedy Actress in a dress she designed for herself, with the help of designer Daniela Kurrle.

There was some tough competition out there in terms of fashion, so this year it wasn't just about how pretty the dresses were but if the stars were able to complete the whole look with body conscious gowns and had the right make-up, hairstyles and accessories to go with it. After careful consideration, we have decided on our top 5 best dressed women and worst dressed women, take a look:

Top 5 Best Dressed

Modern Family's Sophia Vergara looked flawless in her Vera Wang gown that accensuated her curves and her dangling Colombian emerald earrings was all she needed to go with it.

Vampire Diaries very own Nina Dobrev looked perfect in her strapless, form-fitting Donna Karan gown. She paired it nicely with Neil Lane jewels, Brian Atwood stilettos, and a Judith Leiber clutch. Girl Crush!

The Modern Family cast was definitely some of the best-dressed people at Emmys, including Julie Bowen. She looks amazing in her Oscar de la Renta gown with its plunging neckline and silver embellishments. Looks like Nina Dobrev isn't the only one with Neil Lane jewels because Bowen is wearing a pair of his dropped earrings.

Glee beauty and fashion icon Lea Michelle has yet to disappoint us! Her scarlet Marchesa design immediately comes off as conservative, yet classy, but once she turns around its hard not to fall in love with her AND the dress! The drapping on the open back was such a nice touch, not to mention the pleated shoulders.

There is something about Kerri Washington's Zuhar Murad dress that makes us excited about fashion all over again. Maybe its because the bottom half of it remind us of the roaring 20's with the flapper dresses and women breaking out of their shells to make a statement with their clothing. Well Kerri looks beautiful and we love the matching bright bold lips and Jimmy Choo clutch!

Top 5 Worst Dressed

Adrianne Palicki decided on a satin Dolce & Gabanna dress with a thigh-high slit that resembled a cheap prom dress. Her attempt to play it safe with a red dress, minimal jewelry, and black nail polish to match her strappy black sandals failed her.

We were not satisfied with reality T.V. celebrity Kyle Richards, from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills ensemble. The scrunched up, metallic blue, single shoulder mermaid gown did not WOW us.

Christina Hendrick's had a beautiful gown filled with crystals, but unfortunately it did not suit her well. The slit was too high and she was on the borderline of showing just a little too much cleveage. Although the dress did show off her curves it was not flattering. Perhaps it would have been better for her if it did not have a slit.

Paz de la Huerta's pale pink dress did do her body justice but the thigh high slit showing her full-leg is very controversial. What completely turned this look into a disaster was her hair and make-up. The purple lipstick makes her face look overly tanned and the messy hair pulled to the left looks like she just got out of bed!

The adorable Katie Holmes didn't quite get it right this time. The color of the dress was lovely, but also very plain. The belt was an added bonus, however she could have at least tried to pull the look all together with better accessories and a better hairstyle.

Bonnie Bentley's dress with orange and yellow color blocks did not go well with the black and grey on camera. It looks like she was going to a party or dinner rather than the Emmy's!

As for the men's fashion on the red carpet we don't have as much critiquing to do, compared to the women. Many men played it safe with traditional black and white suits, such as Mario Lopez and Darren Criss. As for footwear, we seen Brooks Brothers from Andy Samberg and Paul Giamatti, and Ron White from Entourage stars, like Adrian Grenier and Kevin Dillion. We have shortened our lists for the men, with the top 3 best and worst dressed.

Top 3 Best Dressed Men

Glee star Darren Cris looked great with his sleek, black John Varvatos suit. The spects really made him stand out and completed the look.

Jon Hamm's double-breasted Tom Ford tux with a sizable colar was a complete success (although the pants were slightly too long...), plus its always nice to see a bow tie. Combing back his hair gave him a charming, sleek finish.

Martin Scorsesse looked quite dapper with his black and white tuxdeo and more importantly dressed for his age.

Top 3 Worst Dressed Men

Michael Pitt went for the "all black everything" look that normally almost always works. Well this is a prime example of how it goes wrong. He could have had a very modern and sophisticated look, instead he failed because of those worn-out boots.

Just when we thought only women can show too much skin, well this time we were wrong! Heidi Klum's husband Seal decided to unbutton half of his shirt, oil up his chest, and throw on some accessories like a pair of sunglasses and chains with it. Maybe Justin Timberlake can give him a few words on how to really bring sexy back.

Last but not least, Don Cheadle looked more like he was going to a funeral than the Emmy's with that awful tie. Better luck next time!

Last night, The King Collective and ModelKarma celebrated the closing night of New York Fashion Week with a White Party at Bar Basque.

Last night, we had the pleasure of seeing the presentation of the Zuzu Kim SS2012 line at the Mandarin Oriental in Columbus Circle.

The collection is a mix of black, white, and all shades of gray in between. The rich fabrics make this collection both elegant and luxurious while still being very wearable...we can't wait to see the pieces up close and personal...as in on our bodies!

Friday, September 9th, was the date for the Ivana Helsinki spring/summer 2012 runway show. And MAN, we really can't wait until spring! The name of the collection is Indian Summer, and true to the name the collection consisted of dresses and tops with beautiful feather prints.

Bowen Collection

Yesterday, The King Collective opened up NYFW with the BOWEN COLLECTION SS2012 Runway Show, by designer Anne Bowen.

"Global Futuristic Nomad" is the inspiration for this collection. Body caressing gowns, textured hand-dyed silk chiffons and metallic sequins juxtaposed elements of ancient cultures with the futuristic vision of tomorrow.

The King Collective Industry Dinner

Last night The King Collective celebrated an early start of New York Fashion Week at Macao Trading Company in Tribeca. Lots of friends of King's showed up, enjoying the delicious drinks and hors d'ouvres of Macao.

Copies of author Eila Mell's book "New York Fashion Week" - an amazing flashback of NYC's Fashion Week during the Bryant Park era.

Always stylish blogger/stylist trio Wanderlust. They also had a surprise for the party... The launch of their bowtie collaboration with Swedish designer Niklas Ankar! The launch included a very, very stylish and sexy teaser video starring Scott Kosiorek, Emily Bache and Abigail Breslin of Wanderlust.

3 Months at King

My first day at The King Collective was on May 24. Today is August 24 and it's my last. Before meeting anyone at King, I talked to Katarina, Megan, and Keri on the phone. Just the way they talked about The King Collective made me want to meet them immediately. I was so excited to work here mostly because I hadn't ever experienced a work environment in any way similar to this one.

It doesn't feel like 3 months because working here was not really a routine. We came in every day not knowing what to expect. New projects flew in, suddenly there was an event to prepare for, all kinds of people would come in to try on clothes from our sample sale... The craziness never stopped. I remember the first party Ursula and I went to with Megan. She introduced us to all these people we thought we would probably never see again. It turned out they were all a part of this world that we were getting ourselves into. We saw a lot of familiar faces at almost every event and the more parties we went to, the more people began to recognize us, allowing us to build amazing relationships.

It wasn't only at parties that you make connections though. Even running small errands, like going to fabric stores or to deliver clothes were great ways to meet people in the industry. I learned that knowing people makes your life so much easier, and that even when you are asked to do something really small, it will build up to something important that you helped create. I am thankful we were given the opportunity to help build a small part of an incredible company. Here are some memories from my time here.

Earthquake Hits New York with Devastating Results

Yesterday was the conclusion of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Stockholm, Sweden. Let's take a look at some of the most outgoing Nordic looks for the upcoming season.

Dagmar: "Relaxed Luxury with Attitude"
In the past, Dagmar brought to mind dark, elegant colors and fabrics that fall nicely along the body curves. For the Spring/Summer 2012 collection though, we see vibrant colors and bolder cuts.

Rützou: "Sensual and Feminine"
Floral patterns and fine details are this designer's specialty. For her new collection, Susanne Rützou brightens up with glowing white fabrics as well as some greys and beiges. Contrary to Dagmar's aggressive looks, Rützou presents a delicate, earthy collection.

Altewai.Saome: "A Mix of Scandinavian Simplicity with International High Fashion"

Because their designs are so complex and innovative, Natalia Altewai and Ronda Saome seem to stick to a few classic colors that make it easier to focus on their designs. In their past collections black, dark blue, and white were the most prominent. Now, they have started to experiment with a blood-red color that makes their new line stand out as they manage to keep their trademark style and experiment with more vibrant and dangerous looks at the same time.

Johanna Pihl won the Young Fashion Industry Award (YFI), created by Keri Ingvarsson. This award credits emerging designers in Sweden. They are given a chance to present their collection during the Mercedes Benz Stockholm Fashion week and compete to win the award. Benefits include having their own runway show during the real MB Fashion Week in Stockholm and it is all funded by Mercedes Benz. It is a great opportunity for designers without the means to get exposure to be able to show their creativity to hundreds of fashion editors, buyers, and industry members. It's not a spa, it's not a massage parlor: Mizu salon is hair-exclusive. Founders Vaughn Acord and Damian Santiago opened their beautiful two-floor hair salon in New York and jumped right into their business. Both of them were at the salon when we came to introduce ourselves. They explained that they do all kinds of hair styling and treatments, but when we asked about any other services they provided, Vaughn, who was giving the tour of their glossy-white space, stressed that apart from manicures, they put all their emphasis on hair. They specialize with Bumble and Bumble products and stylists who are professionals with these specific products. Vaughn and Damian teach all their employees to work with the same care they have acquired over the years. Bon Iver at the United Palace Theatre

Last night I had the honor of hearing Bon Iver play at the United Palace Theatre in Washington Heights and it was hands down the best concert I've ever been to. The venue alone was mind blowing, it's a converted movie/vaudeville palace from the early 1930s that now serves as a concert hall/church. I think this place deserves its own photo:

For those of you who have never heard of Bon Iver, tsk tsk! But at the same time I almost envy you because you now have the opportunity to discover one of the greatest musicians of this decade. It's the kind of calm hipster music that makes you want to lie in your wooden cabin in the middle of nowhere and read a well worn book. By far, the best part of the night had to be when the audience was invited (no, demanded) to sing along to "The Wolves (Act I and II)," one of my favorite songs.

The Colbert Report recently had Justin Vernon, the brainchild and writer behind all of Bon Iver's music, on his show. As usual chaos (and some amazing music) ensued.

This isn't the first time Anonymous has spoken out against social networks.

After Google removed Anonymous' Gmail and Google+ accounts, Anonymous pledged to create its own social network, called AnonPlus.

Zara opens to Online Shoppers in America

Last year Zara launched it's online store exclusively for Europeans. But it has been confirmed today that on Wednesday September 7, the store will open it's online window to its American consumers. Although sometimes accused of mimicking high-end brands, Zara stores have always brought high-quality fashion at a very reasonable price.

It all started in a small room in Galicia, Spain, with a little sewing machine. Amancio Ortega, the founder of Zara, opened his first store in 1975. It featured clothes very similar to classic brands like Chanel but at a price that was affordable to the general public. As business grew, Ortega used his feel for classing trends and a fast-pace business model to target his fashion-conscious audience. The store expanded through Spain and then moved on across Europe and in the United States. The brand proved that high-quality and tasteful fashion can be available to everyone; and that something really big can always be traced back to it's humble roots.

Paola Suhonen

If you've seen any of her runway shows, it's obvious how ridiculously talented Paola Suhonen, Ivana Helsinki's designer, is but seeing her in action is a whole other story. After meeting her this weekend at the film production for her latest line, it became apparent how talented and passionate she is about what she does.

Paola often draws inspiration from unlikely sources, including tattoos and even your grandmother's wardrobe! During the film shoot I began to see how her artistic vision unravels, always in beautiful silhouettes that continue to blur the line between fashion and art. Gone with the River

On Friday I was sent away from the King Castle and into DUMBO Brooklyn, a place I had never set foot on, but would know like the back of my hand by the end of the day. I met designer Paola Suhonen, who was setting up to direct and shoot a film showcasing all her designs. Before I even had the time to drop my bag on the floor, she placed money in my hand with a list of items I needed to find for the production...eye patch, strawberries, porcelain plates, long candles...etc. I had no idea where to go, but I headed out to explore the area down under the Manhattan Bridge and began to shop. I went back and forth dropping things off along the way and I still had no idea what the movie was going to be about.

Three beautiful tall girls arrived around noon and began to get their respective Ivana Helsinki clothes on. Erika, Alexa, and Cristina, all friends of Paola, were starring in the film, and I was responsible for getting them ready for every scene. In between scenes we would chat a little bit and they told me they were singers so I checked them out- really good stuff.

Paola was basically doing the job of 10 people and amazingly she had everything under control and kept her cool. I asked her why she didn't have more people helping out and she said that because she has the exact idea of how everything should be in her mind, and it's much easier to convey that if she is doing most of the creative work. It was such a great experience to work with someone so creative who single-handedly fused fashion and film.

The second day Ursula arrived for the shoot early (6:30 am!) until I was able to take over around noon. I had no idea what I was to be doing so I decided that Saturday would just have to be an adventure. After a long train ride and a bit of traffic I arrived safe and sound in DUMBO Brooklyn. Huffing and puffing it up seven flights of stairs was a bit rough, as was my make-up once I made it to the top, but I successfully located Ursula and she explained everything.

My title for the day was "Production Assistant" which basically meant I was in charge of keeping all the props/costumes organized and ready for each scene. Very reminiscent of the plays I work on while at college! Things were a bit hectic (as to be expected on a film set) with everyone running around but the models were super sweet and Paola was totally on her game. It was really interesting watching the process, especially seeing as I've never been around a film production. You never truly know what it takes for everything to come together for the final product. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished movie, you guys are in for a (fashionable) treat!

If you miss "Sex and the City" as much as we do and may or may not watch old episodes into the wee hours of the morning in your Manolos, listen up. Rumors of a SATC prequel have been circulating for a while now but we just heard of a possible new development and needed to share it immediately.

Apparently, Gossip Girl's Blake Lively is slated to play Samantha, Selena Gomez to play Charlotte, and Emma Roberts to play Miranda. And... last but not least... Elizabeth Olsen as Carrie! Here are shots of the original characters and their supposed younger-halves.

This past weekend New Yorkers were treated to a glimpse behind the scenes at NYFW... a bit early. "The Tents," directed by James Belzer, follows Fashion Week at Bryant Park and explores its humble beginnings, struggles, and the legacy it leaves behind. Belzer interviews several celebrity designers, fashion personalities, and those most influential in the world of fashion to gain insight for the film. Our very own Richie Rich even made an appearance! The film premiered at NewFest, New York's LGBT Film Festival, on July 23rd with high hopes for the Fall.

Saturday July 24th was a sad day, talented, soulful artist Amy Winehouse passed away at the young age of 27. Her battle with alcohol and drugs was well documented by the tabloids but that doesn't make her death any less tragic. Our well-wishes go out to her family and friends who are undoubtedly shaken by this unexpected turn of events. May you rest in peace, Amy Winehouse.

Long Beautiful Hair

So after years of listening to the soundtrack, last night the magic of Hair finally came together at the St. James Theatre here in New York! The national tour is stopping by the city that never sleeps from now until September 10th after closing on Broadway about a year ago.

The music was phenomenal, but really, would you expect any less? The plot was less than sturdy (read: there) but I wouldn't have it any other way. It's clear that Hair is not simply a musical about the 60s, it is the 60s; a direct product of the era in every sense of the word.

Some of the cast seemed a bit worn out from touring since October but a couple absolutely blew the audience away. Kacie Sheik, playing a very pregnant tribe member named Jeanie, was hysterical and a little crazy but never failed to entertain. Oh, and did I mention the gratuitous group nude scene? Yeah well, and that's just act one.

Throughout the entirety of the night you could tell just from looking around how much the audience connected with the show. Many of them were baby-boomers and would have been just about the characters' ages at the time the show takes place. Looking around I couldn't help but wonder who of the older crowd were of the free-spirited wild child/dirty hippie variety only a few decades ago. I think it's safe to say that all in attendance were sad to see it end but in typical Hair style the audience was invited onstage to sing and dance with the tribe during the encore. All in all a great job and an amazing night! Now if only that stage fright hadn't kept me from dancing...

Behind the Scenes with WanderLust

WanderLust is bringing a whole new angle to their work. Their famous blog is already overflowing with creativity, but for the past few weeks they have been putting up some amazing videos of their wanderings. Their most recent post is a silent video-story featuring Bestey Johnson pieces. They were able to take the brand's content and give it a magical, mysterious background story to compliment it. It's as if every piece of clothing has a certain effect on them, and by mending music, movement and fashion they are able to perfectly evoke the brand's personality.

A little over a week ago, Tom Mendes shot Emily and Abigail in dresses made out of Lucky magazines made by their creative new intern/designer Tricia Padich. This is a Very Important Post

About 13 years ago the birth of one of the world's most beloved literary characters was born. As a small unassuming 11 year old Harry Potter captured the hearts of children and adults alike. As a 90s baby (1990 to be exact) I was lucky enough to grow up with the series that look the bookstores by storm. I was often the same age as the lead characters and became so immersed in the world of Harry Potter that I was devastated when I turned 11 only to find out that no owl would ever drop off an invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It was a rough time to say the least. When the series ended with the final installment, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I felt completely conflicted. On the one hand I am still amazed at J.K. Rowlings ability to both please and surprise every one of herfans with the ending of the book, (I won't spoil it for you if you haven't read it....and if you HAVEN'T read it we're not friends and I'm never speaking to you), and it was the best ending to a series incomparable to any other YA series (I'm looking at you Twilight fans). And then there was the fact that the final installment was just that, the final installment. After I finished the 7th book I immediately reread it trying to hang on to every second of it. The series was over, it was true, but the phenomenon wasn't. The movies brought the books' magic to light and since they were still coming out, I was momentarily ok.

Fast-forward 13 years from when the first book came out to the time of the release of the 8th (part 2) and final production of Harry Potter. I, like all enthusiastic fans, made sure to have tickets to the midnight release. Actually I had tickets for a double showing where they played Harry Potter 7 Part One at 9pm and then continued

with the midnight release of Part Two. I was SO ready for this moment that I may or may not have left work early in order to get a good spot in line. Anyways I joined other fans as they lay on blankets dressed in wizarding gear, I myself was not as prepared, and quickly made friends with those around me. We were all different ages, from different walks of life, and yet the conversati

on flowed so easily that it would have appeared as if the entire line was composed of dear friends. The Harry Potter effect is powerful indeed.

Since my line was watching Part One at 9pm, the theatre thankfully let us in early. I was really excited. Can't you just READ my level of excitement??

Those are my 3D glasses. Potterific! Long story short at about 3am July 15th I experienced the last-last Harry Potter installment. And it was AMAZING!! As a good fan I went to every movie midnight premiere but I also believe that the books are always 1612346723951 times better than the movie. The last Harry Potter movie, however, did the book justice. I cannot begin to sing enough praise about it. Again, I don't want to ruin anything for you, but it is a really beautiful piece of cinematic work. YOU HAVE TO SEE IT! NOW!!!!

It's over. I feel like I just broke up with a boyfriend. I'm not over it. The experience of all of it is mind numbing. I wish I were able to be more fluent on the occasion, but my feelings are truly ineffable. I'll finish this point by saying that if you're anything like me, you are already stalking pottermore in hopes that this new platform will be able to satisfy our thirst for anything Harry Potter.

Andy Warhol Book Release Party

Last Night we went out to celebrate Thomas Kiedrowski's new book: Andy Warhol's New York at Yotel in Times Square.

The book covers Warhol's life in NY from the fifties to the eighties, but it emphasizes the appearance of his work everywhere in the City. Kiedrowsky talks about eighty different sites associated with the Artist. Most of the people at the venue agreed that people who love fashion and art will adore this book.

Everyone was dressed in pop-y colors, perfectly representing the "Warhol Mood" and as always, New Yorkers celebrated the only way they know how, in a huge and crazy crowd

After two long and busy days at the King Collective, we spent Tuesday evening at the W where SPIN magazine hosted an event merging fashion, art, and music into one. We met a lot of photographers, advertisers, DJs, journalists, and of course, fashion junkies. The music had an oldies feel mixed with electronic tunes. It was a great way to get us excited about the different faces of fashion, and a fun energetic way to start the week.

We at King believe that true talent deserves attention. One of our favorite online shops, Imilla Road, believes in just that. Imillia Road turns the spotlight on emerging independent fashion designers in order to showcase their designs. What started out as a pop-up shop has now entered the online world making unique fashionable finds available to all.

Anyone who was in NYC this weekend knows just how hot and muggy it was...so when a friend invited me to go watch a soccer tournament on Saturday, I was less than thrilled. Between the heat, traveling from the East Village to Chelsea Piers and me having to watch soccer...it sounded like a recipe for disaster.

But, I hadn't seen him in a while, so I decided to check it out....and boy am I glad I did.

It turned out that this "soccer tournament" was the tenth annual Fanatic tournament sponsored by Adidas and was kind of a big deal. It was really more like a block party than a traditional tournament- we chilled out and enjoyed the BBQ and Heineken Lights from the sidelines as we (and by we I mean everyone who watched the games...unlike me) cheered the teams on. I spent the afternoon paying more attention to the hotties with their shirts off than the goals being scored. :)

A Trip to Brooklyn!

Last night we took a little adventure to Vintage Culture NY’s launch party in Williamsburg (first time to Brooklyn!). The online boutique’s owners, Zoila Sylvester and Zachary Darton, hosted friends, family, and vintage-lovers at Rouge58.

Guests sipped on Asahi beer and socialized while a few noshed hotdogs grilled right out back. Dash Speaks DJ’d the event during which we got a chance to check out some of the local art adorning the walls.

We even found a moment to snag a picture with Zoila & Zach before hitting the road with our new Vintage Culture NY glasses!

New Face in the Fashion World

Today an article on WWD came out about Colleen Miner. She's a new model from Texas that has always been an outcast. In an interview she speaks about her awkward style. The 21-year-old came to New york in August and is bringing a new and interesting twist to the modeling world with her unconventional look- described as "freckle-faced and toothy" by wwd.

Colleen said that if she wasn't modeling she would like to be a farmer. She grew up in a very organic environment. Her parents would garden and grow their food back in Austin and were obsessed with everything organic. With the entire green revolution getting on it's feet in NYC, she may be quite the new fit for today's fashion world.

Tuesday evening, Zelda Kaplan celebrated 95 candles at Gramercy Terrace atop of Gramercy Park Hotel. New York's most artistic, beautiful, and fabulous social circle attended the exclusive event to share a special night with one of the most knowledgeable, open-hearted people around.

Gen Art closed its film festival with a screening of Salutation Boulevard starring Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Jim Gaffigan, Yul Vazquez and Marisa Tomei. Then the audience, staff, and other guests headed to Hiro Ballroom to celebrate the end of the festival with music by DJ Silver Medallion, cocktails, and a little bit of dancing... more like head bobbing in most cases.

WanderLust came to socialize and enjoy the amazing venue with me. We met new people and chatted with friends.

Gen Art Film Festival Opening Night!

Last night was the first of 7 film premiere showings at the Ziegfeld Theater where Gen Art hosted its 2011 film festival. The King Collective girls entered the red carpet with Wanderlust, Samantha Lim, editor-in-chief of Fashion Indie and fashion director of Lookbooks, and stylist Mia Morgan. We didn't forget to grab a few big buckets of popcorn and sodas to enjoy during the film. It started out with a really cute short (picture shown below) and went on to show the movie A Beginner's Guide to Endings.

The film starred Scott Caan, J.K. Simmons, Tricia Helfer, Jason Jones, Paulo Costanzo and Harvey Keitel. It began with a father of five boys committing suicide and leaving them a bitter note stating that three of them are going to die because of some pills he made them take for money. Director Jonathan Sobol, who also wrote the script, was able to take the darkest theme possible and stare death in the face with comic spins making the audience burst into laughter as they followed the characters' ridiculous ways to cope with death.

We spotted Canadian Actress Shenae Grimes who stars in the new 90210.

The after-party was at At Vermillion, it was pretty packed when we got there so we stood near the entrance and greeted all our friends after grabbing some white wine and cocktails. But don't worry, Keri only drank the Skinny Water they had there.
