Oscar Round-Up!

Well, they came, they went, we watched.  All in all, this year's Oscar Awards were a real snoozer.  Poor Anne Hathaway really tried to carry the show and James Franco...well, he just showed up.

We were happy to see Natalie Portman take home Best Actress for her haunting portrayal of Nina, the demented ballerina, in Black Swan.  We were also glad to see Christian Bale awarded with Best Supporting Actor...partly because he was amazingly convincing in The Fighter, and partly because we couldn't wait to see which accent he accepted his award in!

For more on who won last night, read here.

And as for the fashion?  Well, there were some winners and losers in that category as well...

First off, let's take a look at how many of the dresses KING predicted actually turned up on the red carpet!

Lastly, let's all be glad that the lovely Cate Blanchett decided to forgo wearing the headpiece originally shown with her gown of choice! :)

Oscar Fashion Predictions

Well, it is that time of year again!  Tonight, the 83rd Annual Oscar Awards will be seen all over the country.  While most watching are waiting with baited breath to see who will take home the coveted awards, we like to try and predict which gowns we will see grace that red carpet beforehand.

After reviewing runways of the Couture shows in Paris and this past seasons' Ready to Wear collections, here are some gowns we would like to see on the ladies tonight!

Armani Prive

 Bottega Venetta

Loving the corset peeking out of the neckline

Carolina Herrera

 Christian Siriano

The pseudo-tie dyed pattern made out of ruffles makes this gown so original and unlike any others we have seen this season

The sheer skirt would be great on someone with killer legs, like Cameron Diaz...will she even be there? :)

 Christian Dior Couture

The paint strokes on the skirt remind me of black feathers...maybe for Black Swan's Mila Kunis?

Or this!

Emilio Pucci

So sexy.

 Elie Saab Couture
I think that blush may be a big color tonight and these Elie Saab gowns prove so.

I love the contrast of a black dress with a little bit of the white bodice peeking out!

Minus the headpiece :)

 Marchesa

Another sheer skirt to show off a pair of great gams!

My #1 Pick...I hope to see this on the red carpet tonight!!

 Monique Lhullier

Angelina Jolie?

Luxurious leopard print

One-shoulder gowns are a trend carrying over from last season

Oscar de la Renta

The tartan pattern makes this gown fun and young.

Very Retro

 Reem Acra

Another one of my absolute faves.  I love how the colors fade into one another!

She kind of looks like an Oscar, no? :)

Check back tomorrow to see if any of the gowns we chose showed up at the Oscars!

Our good friend Sam Lim, Editor-in-Chief of Lookbooks and FashionIndie, styled a sexy photoshoot with Gilles Bensimon...is there anything this girl can't do?! (FashionIndie)

The Disney Princesses as Hipsters??  This is too much... (RATS OFF/TUMBLR)

Rachel Zoe's baby bump...finally! (Huff Po)

The models at Vivienne Westwood's Red Label A/W 2011 show looked like King Jr. had a go at their makeup...seriously. (NYMag)

Ivana Helsinki at (capsule)

Now that the clothes have graced the runway in New York, we have taken Ivana Helsinki's Velvet Lake collection to Market Week!

Ivana Helsinki's Pirjo Suhonen getting ready for another day of sales!
Ivana Helsinki is being shown at the (capsule) show amongst the A/W collections of Sweden's Camilla Norrback, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, and Rodebjer as well as local favorites Madison Harding and Sophomore.

The Velvet Lake collection is a mix of lush velvets and antique lace with it's signature pattern of peacock feathers draped in mauve and green.
