3 Months at King

My first day at The King Collective was on May 24. Today is August 24 and it's my last. Before meeting anyone at King, I talked to Katarina, Megan, and Keri on the phone. Just the way they talked about The King Collective made me want to meet them immediately. I was so excited to work here mostly because I hadn't ever experienced a work environment in any way similar to this one.

It doesn't feel like 3 months because working here was not really a routine. We came in every day not knowing what to expect. New projects flew in, suddenly there was an event to prepare for, all kinds of people would come in to try on clothes from our sample sale... The craziness never stopped. I remember the first party Ursula and I went to with Megan. She introduced us to all these people we thought we would probably never see again. It turned out they were all a part of this world that we were getting ourselves into. We saw a lot of familiar faces at almost every event and the more parties we went to, the more people began to recognize us, allowing us to build amazing relationships.

It wasn't only at parties that you make connections though. Even running small errands, like going to fabric stores or to deliver clothes were great ways to meet people in the industry. I learned that knowing people makes your life so much easier, and that even when you are asked to do something really small, it will build up to something important that you helped create. I am thankful we were given the opportunity to help build a small part of an incredible company. Here are some memories from my time here.

Ursula had her eyes on Richie's poofy skirt since her first day at King
We were trying to make it seem like we were looking at each other for our blog page, but we both looked the same way so it didn't work out.

Trying stuff on to advertise the sample sale. This was right after having enormous "The Counter" burgers...mmmm

Our first adventure to Limelight marketplace!
Dancing with Belly at Zelda's birthday party. I got to know this little girl very well this summer and I must say I will miss her so much.
 Taking photo's at Zelda's!
This summer was full of cupcakes! I'm glad the King staff likes to eat the best stuff. Katti said, "we're probably the most unhealthy group in the fashion industry" but life is short, and cupcakes and burgers are wonderful.
 The intern group grows!
Tom Mendes gave us this Polaroid. I have it in my wallet.

More sample sale stuff. We loved taking a break from our computers and indulging in Ivana Helsinki designs.
Katarina with the list for Jason Tanzer's party.
 My crackle King nail
Spin party at the W hotel
We loved when Isabella came to the office

Thank you so much for everything Megan, Keri, Katarina, Joey, Dana, Ursula, Sam, and Katrina!

Love,

Ariel
